Like It's Her Birthday

This is actually an old photo from last year but the flower bed is not changed a whole lot this year; perhaps a bit more full.  I suppose the same could be said of me on this anniversary of my birth.  Although I try to resist the urge, birthdays always seem to find me a bit introspective and offer the perfect chance to beat up on myself a bit for not accomplishing what I think is enough.  Why haven't I hiked the Grand Canyon yet?!  Why haven't I finished the house yet?!!  Why haven't I spent more time with my Mom?!!  Why do I seem to have fewer  friends every year?!!
And no, you don't have to tell me that I'm being ridiculous (I guess!).  I've done a lot of things and been many places that a lot of people never get to see.  Even to be able to "retire" at 45 and basically work as I please is a great accomplishment.  I think it's mainly just the fact that I don't see a lot of the people anymore that I used to get to see.  It makes you feel isolated.  Makes me wonder if I even matter.  Honestly...probably not, to more than a handful of people, but hey, that's life.  I guess if I had really wanted things much different I would have found a way to have had a big family.
So, anyway...how did this turn into such a crappy, downer post??  Oh yeah,..my birthday.  Today has been a nice day though.  It has finally quit raining here and the sun has actually offered it's services.  The chickens are very happy about all that.  This evening Allen will take me out for some sushi and I think we are going to buy a few things to complete the kitchen, so that will all be fun!  We have also completed a couple of projects on the house and I need to put that  up for ya'll.  So, life goes on.

I think this must be the way it goes for most people. I miss so many of the people I have known. Some have passed and some are not so friendly. No reason. Life changes and we all go our own way. You have a nice husband, your farm with chickens, flowers, veggies, and most of all your clay and creations. Oh, and best of all your home! All these things you hoped and planed for. See Happy Birthday! Most of your dreams have come true.

Happy birthday wishes, Annie, and may the celebration last the year. I think we all tend to get introspective on this day and miss friends who have with passed on or who we don't see often. Same with me, even though I do try to maintain contact through letters, cards, and calls. As Rita so aptly said, you have lots of great and positive things in your life, and I think you do know that.

Happy Birthday! My birthday was this past Saturday. There's something special about us Mayflowers! I'm definitely not where I thought I would be at 50 but I guess I'm where I was meant to be. I'm just going to enjoy the ride.
P.S. Come to Chilton county in June and get some fresh peaches!

Hope your day was full, Annie. Belated birthday wishes for you. Enjoy the moments; that's what life is all about, isn't it? Sharing with another is icing on the cake of life.

Well then, wonk, wonk. Happy Birthday. Not with an exclamation point, but with a period.

I've got one coming up too, but I feel pretty down on myself for my lack of accomplishments all year long anyway! But THEN, I think about how I have these two giant blessings called children and a good husband and think well, no, I've actually accomplished quite a lot. So, I guess it's all in how you look at it.

SO I suggest both for me and you, we make a schedule. Yours might say something like, go see Mom on Monday afternoons. Mine will say something like learn something new about photography every week. Ok? Ok.

This examined life, the annual doubt and introspection, is all part of your journey, Annie. But one cure for such doldrums might be: more chicken pix!! :-)

Hey, I say you are upright and walking, although we know you have had back/health issues. Excellence in life is your perspective. I am not rich, but I like my life. It might not be someone elses perspective but mine.
I figure if we have some really good friends in life, say 2 or 3 that will suffice. Salt of the earth people is what I call them. The kind where if you don't see them for a year or so, that is okay, you just pick up where you left off and go on.
Go for the positive.

From the little bit I can read french, I think Anoyomous wants to spice up your life, but not in a good way. Happy Birthday a little late. Life has been crazy around here, but I still read your blog whenever I get on the computer. Just don't get to comment a lot. Hope your day was great.

Hey Hayley! yes, it is all in how you look at it and we BOTH have many good accomplishments and things to be proud of! OK!

Hey Pam! More chicken pix!! well that never hurts, that's for sure! lol! I'll try to get some up soon.

Hey Anon! Yep, you're right! I generally do go for the positive (believe it or not) but every so often I thin about other things.

Hey IR! yes, I had a very nice day. thanks!
Yeah, stupid spam. I guess I'm gonna have to do the word veri-thing; too much of that crap has been getting through lately.
