Lucky That Way

I don't think I've ever posted twice in one day on this blog but I just had to this time.  I can't contain myself.  I found out today that I won tickets to The Antiques Roadshow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Technically, Allen won tickets, but I am going or he will suffer the consequences for the rest of his life!!  There are a few tickets available that you can buy, but they are horribly expensive.  Or, you can put your name in the drawing and if you win you get 2 tickets for free.  I registered myself of course, and then also Allen, for better odds.  They do not notify you if you win but you can go to the Antiques Roadshow website after a certain date and check to see if you won.  I checked for myself first and was crushed that I had not been picked.  I've tried for years to go to this thing.  So, I checked for Allen and sure enough, he won.
I've already picked out what we'll be taking.  A couple of the pieces are ceramics, as you might expect.  Each ticket holder gets to bring 2 items and no more.  The show I applied for is in Birmingham thankfully, so it won't be too far.  In the past I've applied as far away as Washington DC, so it was really cool to get picked for the show here.  Yaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy!!!!  I'm SO excited!!!!!  Can you tell?????
I am SO excited!!!!!!!  And I've got to meet that Yankee jeweler guy.  You know, the one with the dark hair and that great New York accent.  Be neat to meet the Keno brothers too.  I am SO excited!!!!!!  I may not sleep much tonight!!!!  Eeeeekkkk!!!!!

I've watched the show a few times but I don't really have too many antiques. Most of the stuff I may have someday in the future is still in the hands of my parents and grandparents.

As you know I make things out of wood and I usually sign them somewhere with a woodburner. As I do, I sometimes ponder if someday some person on the 'antiques roadshow' or similar show will be pointing it out and telling the person about a small time woodworker in SE Iowa who made that in the earliest parts of the 21rst century.

Hey Ed! I have a few items that I have very selectively picked up over the years. Virtually nothing that's been handed down.
I am waiting for the day that I go into a thrift or antique store and find a piece of my pottery. lol! It will most likely be in a thrift store.

Hey Erin! thanks!! I knew you would get a kick out of that!

If you are like me you seldom if ever win anything. This is terrific! What a great time you'll have. Let us know all about it when you get home.

Are you doing okay? Looks like your state got hammered again. Congrats on the tickets.

Hey Rita! Yes, exactly. I rarely ever win anything so this was especially fun. Oh, I'll have photos and everything to show.

Hey IR! Yes we're fine. I posted about the storms in the previous post. Thanks!

That is so cool! I'm not much of an antique-y person (tho my B'ham relatives are) but the show is really fun to watch. (The only "reality show" I can stomach...well...OK, I will admit to the guilty pleasure of Pit Bulls and Parolees). I hope you and Allen get showcased so we can see you on th' teevee!

Hey Pam! I'mnot much of an antiquey person either but I do have a very few collectable things I guess you would say.
I hope that I have something worth enough to be showcased!!

Hey Kristin! wow! that's great that you got to go! Everybody says it's a lot of fun so I expect we'll have a great time.

I'm so excited for you. I love that show and have wanted to go forever too. I knew someone who won the tickets. I just knew she wouldn't go so I offered to buy the tickets from her. she wouldn't sell the tickets and I just know they went in the garbage.

Anyway enjoy the show and hope you find out you have something worth a few bucks or maybe lots of bucks.

Even if I didn't have anything to bring, I would enjoy going to AR because one day I may just find a treasure like the ones shown there. Of course, I always like when someone is told that something they never expected to be worth anything or something they bought at a flea market, etc. is worth a lot....great fun watching the reactions. Good luck and congrats on the ticket win.

Hey Jo! Ugh! I can't understand people like that, that don't want something but won't let anybody else have use of it either.
Yes, hopefully what I take will be worth a little something.

Hey Bea! thanks! yeah, I think it would be fun to go, even to just watch.
