Catch The Wind

This is my new project that I started on today. Biggest freakin' weather vane I've ever seen. It will be about 20 feet tall when I am finished. Did the cleaning today and straightened out some of the bent up places you see. It's a combination of stainless steel, bronze and copper.

A big storm did this. It's not taking near the time I thought it would so I may be finished with it by Friday afternoon. If I do finish it early and they have no immediate work for me, which is very possible, I have decided that it is time for a very big adventure. Everybody say, "Road trip!!!!"

Best I could do to show the whole thing. It's a very interesting piece. When I restore an original sculpture like this I always try to take the care with it that I would want somebody else to take restoring a piece of mine after I'm gone. I think it is going to turn out well.

This afternoon when I got home, I felt compelled to walk down to the spring, just to see how things there were doing. When I got there I was a little surprised to see that the water was so clear, you could see rocks about 18" below the surface.
Been a long time since it's been that clear. As I crept closer to the edge about 8 little frogs jumped screaming into the water, probably peeing all the way. Oh well.

We are leaving on a road trip tomorrow, too. Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Where are you headed?

Frog pee is good for night vision...or is that carrots?

Your weather vane looks fantastic.

How lucky you are to have frogs. They are in decline. We have far fewer frogs around here that we had thirty years ago.

Years ago, at our cottage we had an hand dug well, not too deep. We always had a large frog living in it.
A little frog pee cannot do us any harm. Did you know human urine is sterile. This is a handy thing to know if you have a wound that needs to be flushed out. Can't you just imagine a group of guys on the job standing around you, flushing out your wound. :)

Hey IR! well, hopefully, if everything works out, I'll be heading for Arizona and the Grand Canyon. Hope ya'll have a good trip!

Hey Woody! well, that explains that. ;)

Hey Philip! yeah, I have heard about the frogs declining and that is sad. I think they are doing pretty good here and I try to help them out.
Yes, I knew human pee is sterile but the image of the guys around me is not very comforting! lol!

Nice looking restoration work on the eather vane, Annie. And just spent time catching up on past posts as I have been away from home (visiting my mom in NJ). Agree 100% with most of your comments about the church folks. A starbucks and all those sweet drinks - WHAT are those folks thinking - oh exuce me, they obviously are NOT. And I won't even get started on commenting on other things....
