Long Way Home

We've had some really beautiful weather lately and I've felt pretty good, so I got a wild hair and went to visit Rickwood Caverns.  I'm not sure if Rickwood is in the county we live in but it's only about 40 minutes away.

We were not really impressed with the cave, especially at $15 a person to tour it, but the area is very pretty and they have some nice hiking trails.

This loop trail was only about 1 1/4 miles but it was very nice.

I have never seen these type fern grow so prolifically anywhere else.  All the rocks look like they have these big bushy afros. lol!  It's pretty cool.

So, we had a nice time and got some good exercise.  Something I am sorely in need of.

I'm not sure what species of fern this is....resurrection fern maybe??  If you know please feel free to say.

I don't pay to visit natural stuff very often because I'm often disappointed but I often hike trails because they are free and good exercise.

What a lush picture walk. So glad you got out and kicked up your heels. I sure do love ferns. Did I tell you I am doing aromatherapy now? I ordered 10 essential oils that appealed to me. I am having fun learning and experimenting.

I hope it was easier to distinguish the trail than these photos make it look. Glad you got out to enjoy the fine weather. (I'll see if I can send you more.)

Lovely photos. Wish it were my backyard!

Hey Ed! Yeah, I know what you mean. We don't mind paying some but this one was way overpriced. I will however, hike most any trail I come across, like you say.

Hey Erin! I've kinda dabbled in the aromatherapy stuff. It's fun and I think effective with some stuff. I keep some for my headaches.

Hey Pablo! Yes, please do send some more! lol! Yeah, the trails were very obvious in person; I guess the patterns and textures on the rocks and stuff make them disappear in photos. Plus, if you enlarge the pics, you can see the trails were well marked with yellow paint.

Hey Ken! thanks! my backyard is similar; just not quite as many rocks!

Unexpected trips are always the best type and lately we have been taking a few as well. Glad to read you had a good trip, despite the inflated admission cost for the cave.
