Don't Know Why

Hey Folks! well, sorry I haven't been posting much since my return. I guess I've got a case of the 'blahs'. Post-vacation letdown? Maybe I'm overwhelmed by all I need to do around here? Nah, I don't think that's it. It's kinda odd to be alone for such extended periods of time. Well, at any rate, I just haven't had much to say. I'm still cleaning and caulking and getting ready to finish the painting on the siding. I discovered yesterday evening that I'm out of the siding stain color, so that's a trip into town today to get more. I need to buy groceries anyway.
So, that's the exciting lowdown for today. Pffft. The leaves are starting to turn here and that's always kinda somber. I love the feeling of fall but I know it will only bring winter, which means awful cold, and that sucks. I do not do well in cold weather. I know you northerners are laughing at my idea of cold but now, our winters are miserable cold due to the high humidity. It's a wet, penetrating cold that you just can't shake.
And I have still been having awful pain with my back. Got to find out what's going on there.

So, blah. What's going on with ya'll? Oh, I am trying to clean up the basement/ studio and get back to throwing. I have many clay projects I want to start on soon, especially if I'm going to stay laid off.
Hey Anon, that left the comment on the really old post: I did get it and reply to it! Thanks for writing!
Anything any of ya'll want me to post about? Any projects or whatever ya'll want to see?

I look forward to winter... well winter after the silly season of Christmas is over because it is a slow time and allows me to get through more books which sitting in front of a warm fire, play more games with my daughter, spend more time on hobbies etc. During the warmer months, there always seems to be something going on. January to March, it is a relaxing time of the year.

Love the daisies? photo. Made it my desktop background. Lets see. What have I been up to? Saturday past a friend and I took a road trip following the Lincoln Highway for a while. Then we took some scenic byways seeing Grant Wood type eye candy views.

Temps are in the 20's here in Alaska! But it doesn't penetrate to as deep into my bones like the cold in Alabama. It is dryer. I'll let you know if -40 gets to my bones.

Hi Annie, we're still on our road trip through parts of Maine. But but when we return home in a week or maybe more, we will have lots of catch-up projects and hopefully cooler temps - it reached 88 degrees at home this week!

I like this flower. Bunt next door has a 40 foot row of them along the base of her house from corner to corner facing me.

Autumn IS the best season EXCEPT for that melancholy feeling that rolls over me along with dread winter comes next.

ER,

If I'm the Anon whose comment on an ancient post you were referring to in today's comments, then that is a fun coincidence because (as I mentioned there), I enjoyed your blog so much that I had to go back and start at the beginning and catch up. And I just got to today... today! And today you mentioned that you saw my comment (will have to go read it :)

Thanks for updating on Lika. I had a wonderful companion in my dog for 16 years until last summer, and Lika kind of resembles him, so I always feel a smile to see him up there on your header. When you mentioned he was gone, my heart sank... only two (or so) years old! So I'm happy to hear that he is still alive and well and happy.

I had a period of a year or so where my pup was home all day while I worked looong hours, and I did feel bad about it knowing he was lonely. Luckily I was able to get a job after that where I could bring him to work :)

I've never known anyone who lived in Alabama, so and the land looks and sounds delightful. It's nice to get a feel for the flora and fauna - and the people too. And I really enjoy the house and heavy constructon posts... and the art ones.... and...

Now I'm caught up though and have to wait for your next post just like everyone else. Horrors!

Well, you know when you come to Al from those mts. out west, your oxygen levels are high. It feels great because you have so much energy and then yes, the let down. Back to flatlanders syndrone. At least you have a few hills in N. Al. Just got back from SC. Driving through the hilly back woods of Ga. even made my ears pop. You know you are flatlander when your ears pop going over a tall bridge...chuckle chuckle.
Dogs need pals. I just let my feral/tame cat for 4 days...first time. I tried to get him a pal and he through a fit. Thus he is alone, but yes, they do need pals to play with. Talker the cat was @ my office.Landlord threw a fit that I was feeding feral cats, but what they didn't know was that they were all spayed or neutered. They were capturing and moving them. Since Talker and I were already pals, brought him home with me. SAfer, I think, he does have to watch out for coytoes, but he had been dodging cars and people @ the office...not sure which is more dangerous!!!
I'm taking the wk. off to avoid burnout...it is a necessary thing.

Hey Ed! well, that is one way to look at it. I guess I don't so favorably because I usually have to work out in the cold; but maybe not this year.

Hey Erin! wow, that sounds like it was fun! glad you liked the photo.

Hey Hayley! OK! -40 might just do it! lol! I have worked in freezers that cold and it is pretty bad.

Hey Beatrice! 88! wow! that's amazing. it's not been that hot here.

Hey sissy! yeah, I may plant some of these elsewhere on my property. They are beautiful.
I'll write you! Email messed up?

Hey anon-R! yes, that was you! glad you are enjoying the blog and all I write about. Alabama is a delightful place and the people too. Wish we didn't get such a hard time from the media.

Hey anon! lol! you are right! Jack and I wondered if coming home to the lower altitude would affect us and I believe it has made us a little sluggish now, after feeling good at first.
Yes, Grendal doesn't seem to mind living here, just her the only cat but dogs, for the most part, are different. Animals will tell you if they are happy or not, if we will listen.
Good to hear from you and yes, a week off is good! Good for you.

Those look like what we call swamp sunflower down here.
Great plants!
A while back you were moving rocks along some sorta retaining wall. How did that project turn out?

Hey FC! yeah, I'm sure it's the same flower and yes, they are great! So prolific.
Did I never show that wall finished?! I thought I did. Well, I'll put up a few pics to show how it turned out. i still lack just a little on it but for the most part it's finished.
